We've Moved... New Blog!

It is time to say goodbye to blogspot.com! When we first started this blog we had just entered the blogworld and what a whirlwind it has been. From our first post to this (our last official) post on this blog, we have loved sharing our lives and have enjoyed being a part of the families, friends and couples that have allowed us to document their stories!

A Few Simple Shoots... Jami & Mark..

We wanted to try something new... Call it, "Poses and Interaction Class," hosted by Studio 28 Photo for s28 photographers. Kyle and I were the teachers as well as the students. The goal was to take away all the extras of a usual shoot and focus on the basics, us, our camera, and a couple in love. We chose a simple white seamless background because we wanted no distractions, and to be all about capturing the great moment between two people and nothing else.

The day arrived and Jami and Mark were willing to be our subjects for what we can call s28 class, and might I must say we had an amazing time. It is a completely different shoot when its just you telling the couple how to interact and that's it. It makes you think of more interesting and different poses, how to make them feel comfortable, and how to get great photos in a simple setting. We had a few challenges, the main one being lightening, seeing as we like to shoot with natural light as much as possible, so we worked our reflector like never before.

Overall we had a great time, learned a lot, laughed a lot and will definitely do this again. So here you have it... A few simple shots from s28 of Jami & Mark!

Vanessa & Joe... Anytime...

We were standing at the corner in Waikiki waiting to start our shoot with Joe and Vanessa, when Kyle leans over and asks, "do you think they are excited?" As I was standing there thinking, "I hope so," in the distance I spotted a couple walking towards us hand in hand and instantly I was smitten with them.

Joe and Vanessa are an adorable couple, the subtle glances, the laughter, the kisses in between shots, that made for even better shots. The amount of fun they we had made them an absolute blast to shoot! Vanessa has an easy laugh and bright smile, while Joe is the laid-back, easy going type that when I said, "Joe pick her up and swing her," he not only did it but added a kiss and a lot of laughter. This instantly made me think how lucky am I to meet such amazing people and capture such fantastic moments.

It was so great to be back in Hawaii with the crystal blue ocean as the backdrop, my husband by my side doing what we love, and having an amazing couple to shoot. At that moment I felt truly blessed. Again we want to give a huge thank you to Tara of Pacific Wedding Guide for setting up this great shoot...

So it is with a warm heart, happy memories I am so proud to introduce to you, Vanessa and Joe....

The Day With Anthony... Lifestyle

Last week our friend Anthony came to us and wanted us to shoot some head shots and lifestyle photos of him. Of course we were "IN" as we love to shoot lifestyle... it is such a laid back and natural style of shooting and it is always so much fun..

We headed out last week around Huntington Beach and had a great time shooting. We hope that he will remember the little people when he makes it big in the modeling industry.. Next step.. maybe a few more shots.. and of course the comp card and then he is on his way.. On that note we say, "Good luck and make sure you don't do to many Zoolander poses when you make it..."

Sun... Sand... and a few Frames...

I love the beach, plain and simple. I love the sand in my toes, the music of the waves as they crash against the shore, the kaleidoscope of blue reflected on the water, the unpredictable surf... any day, any time, the beach makes me happy.

When Kyle and I started shooting together I mentioned how much I would love to do a shoot about a girl, a board, and the beach. My friend Ashley agreed to be our model and last week we headed to the beach and did our first lifestyle shoot. Kyle and I had so much fun shooting, experimenting with light and exposures, sun flares, and trying out a new lens; all of it made for a great time with some of my favorite images so far!

I love the beach, plain and simple... and now I have a new love, shooting a girl, a board and the beach... perfection! Here are some of our favorite images from the day.

Brooke & Anthony.. Anytime

It was the sly smile that crossed Anthony's face when he glanced at a giggling Brooke. Full of sass, Brooke's giggle turned into an all out laugh as she caught his smile and together they doubled over in a barrel of laughter.

Brooke and Anthony communicate in a way only couples do. Threw a series of smiles, giggles and sly grins they share a secret language that is the spark of love. They married, fell in love and are starting a family together. As Anthony watches Brooke you can see they are a perfect pair, they exude style and complement each other flawlessly. Both have amazing tattoos and the fact that they are undeniably a super hot couple, made photographing them too much fun..

Anthony was, "Zoolander's Blue Steel" for all of two seconds before he broke character, started laughing, which made us all follow and crack up.. That is the best part of the shoot, how much fun we had and how much laughter filled the session.

Anthony and Brooke we are so blessed to have such great friends and realizing as Derek Zoolander said, "Not everyone can be really, really ridiculously good looking" but hot dayyymm you sure are.!!!

Allison's Black Hat Shoot

Sometimes the best shoots can happen in you backyard..  My lovely wife and assistant Allison and I were sitting around one day in October and started shooting.  The results are awesome..  needless to say when you have a great subject and great photographer and a perfect day, you can get some great photographs..!
